COVID-19, January Moon, and YOU

Like all small businesses adjusting to the current climate, we’re having to be flexible and innovative with our manufacturing process. But our mission remains the same, to support the health and happiness of YOUR families. In order to offer you the utmost reassurance in our products, I wanted to share some of the additional safety practices that we have implemented with you.

From Tornados to Pandemics

I’ve been holding you all, my awesome January Moon family, close to my heart throughout what have been a very challenging few weeks for us. Your support (and very cute babies) have given me so much strength and I want you to know how touched the whole team has been to have you cheering us on.

This month began with a tornado and ended with a pandemic that has virtually stopped the world in its tracks. The events of the past month have left our small but mighty team of moms (and the world’s best babysitter) in shock. Our kids haven’t been to school for weeks and will be out for the foreseeable future. We’re all eager to get back to the work we love but we haven’t had a chance to plan, regroup, or figure out the best way forward. One thing I know for certain is that we will move forward. We will allow this to make us strong, keep us humble, and remind us how lucky we are to serve you.

Flexibility Required

Like all small businesses adjusting to the current climate, we’re having to be flexible and innovative with our production process. But thankfully our mission has remained the same, to support the health and happiness of YOUR families. In order to offer you the utmost reassurance in our products, I wanted to share with you some of the current safety practices we have in place.

  • I am the ONLY one assembling and handling the products. I wear latex-free gloves and work in my isolated home studio, to which only one other person (my husband, Mike) has access.

  • All equipment and surfaces are wiped down and cleaned twice a day with an EPA approved disinfectant as per CDC Guideline Recommendations found here.

  • The non-toxic beads we use, as well as our teethers, were shipped to us (from China) prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. The beads arrived in November 2019, and the teethers arrived in the first week of January 2020. Based on a report issued by the New England Journal of Medicine released March 17, 2020, the virus can only survive on cardboard surfaces up to 24 hours and plastic surfaces for 2-3 days.

  • We ship in traditional packaging and use our standard zipper pouches inside of bubble lined poly mailers. We recommend that you handle all shipments with extra care during this time (helpful guidelines can be found here.)

  • As always, we suggest washing your new January Moon products in warm water and soap prior to first-time use.

  • For more detailed information, please visit our safety page here.

I am thankful to be able to continue working during a time when many others are unable to. Designing bright, cheerful accessories brings me comfort and my hope is that I can pass on a little bit of that comfort to you and your littles during these bizarre times that we are all facing. We are still planning to release our new spring products as scheduled, plus we will be offering several giveaways and sales.
