Finding Inspiration in the Mamas Around Me
There’s nothing to get a girl in the Mother’s Day spirit like being surrounded by dozens of extraordinary mamas. I just got back from Babyccino’s ShopUp event in sunny LA, and it was nothing short of pure brilliance. Standing in a space just bursting with the incomparable magic that mama makers are releasing into this world put a brand new spark in my fire. I’m not sure that I’ve ever felt so inspired to create or so proud to be a mom working away at what she loves.
The Audition of All Auditions
I’m not going to lie though, the morning of ShopUp, I woke up sweaty-palmed and nervous. I was literally shaking in my jammies. Introducing the women behind the brands that I most admire to January Moon for the first time felt like one of those big, heavy life moments you can never prepare enough for; it was the audition of all auditions. From OhJoy! to Alice and Ames, Ultra Violet Kids, and Sakura Bloom to the Babyccino tastemakers themselves, all of my favorites were there, and while the opportunity to shake hands with these mad lady geniuses was a true honor, a part of me wanted to hide under the table at my booth until they were done studying my work. I’m so glad I didn’t do that because I would have missed out on a whole lot of warmth, affirmation, and encouragement.
What I discovered in talking with these lovely, kind, uplifting mamas — these women who wear so many hats and then at the end of the day, miraculously summon the energy to create — is that motherhood is a great equalizer. Whether you’re a powerful internet celebrity or a boutique owner, we are all just “mom” to somebody, united by the same hopes, fears and frustrations that accompany the stead. It is what drives our shared passion for bringing beauty, art and function to the messy, upside down world of the child and what gives us the ability to relate to and empathize with each other so effortlessly. While I am still awestruck by the gorgeous art I saw those two days, I think the most beautiful things were the mothers themselves — hardworking, thoughtful spirits who even in the midst of the craziness, were still intent on lifting each other up. What a gift it is to be a mother and what gifts us mothers can be to each other.
Introducing Mama + Mini Sets
I’m so thrilled to announce on the heels of such a wonderful event, that our Mama + Mini packaged sets are now available for purchase (and just in time for Mother’s Day, y’all!) I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate my fellow moms than to give them something beautiful they can share with the special little ones in their lives.
Mamas, thank you for all that you do. I hope your day is filled with even a fraction of the love, laughter, and joy you bring to your families!
XO Jenny
